Chinese alcohol culture - Ganbei!｜《干杯》，关于中国酒文化

The Next Day Agency is officially making our first ever film! We're now in pre-production on Ganbei!, a documentary about Chinese alcohol drinking culture, directed by TND's James Mudge and produced by Cen Qiu, with China-based Ling Chen also onboard as a producer. Investigating Chinese alcohol drinking practices against a background of cultural change and internationalisation, the documentary will shoot in early 2018 in London, Guangzhou and Beijing, beginning with an overseas perspective before moving to China, looking at western stereotypes of Chinese drinking and leading into an exploration of traditional Chinese drinking culture, its history, importance, and how it is changing in modern society. Through the universal culture of drinking, and through both the camera lens and the bottom of a glass, the documentary will offer a challenging, though accessible and entertaining look at the changes transforming Chinese society.
